OS 40 FP Muffler
« on: December 05, 2012, 07:42:55 AM »
Can someone please tell me what the part/model number is for the 40 FP stock muffler?  Thanks in advance for your help.

There are two. The #3030 and #843, I've had them come with both. Sometimes youcan get real great deals on eBay.  Or I think youcan still get the #3030 off Tower Hobbies. D>K

The RC 40FP came with the clunky E-3030 or 843, but the 35 FP-S and 40 FP-S (factory CL engines) came with the 762 muffler.  The 762 is the smaller, lighter, streamlined muffler from the 25 FSR.  The only bad part about the 762 is that it's potentially more restrictive and a little louder.

Your best bet would be to get a tube muffler from Randy's Aero Products.

The E3030 may be chunky, but if you need nose weight, I think it is the best of the standard OS silencers for the 46 LA and probably for the 40 LA too. I get better engine runs using it on a 46 than I do with the 843 or 762. Hope this helps,

Andrew.

Whoops I note that you are talking 40FP not 40 LA! I have used the E3030 on the 40FP but not the other two types, so I can't say which is the best for a 40 FP! Note to self ........ Read the question and then re read it!

The evolution .36 should be a bolt on I think I paid 14 bucks direct from horizon last year, just another option for you . T.J.

The TT 36 is a direct bolt on too, if you want cheap mufflers the are 9.95 each, I have many here
Fits LA 40 46 FP 35 40, FOX 35  ie most all in the 35 to 46 range with 1.4 inch bolt spacing

What are you using the engine for? Tongue muffles save a lot of weight and free up power. Tongue mufflers can be modified easily to increase exhaust flow. (Add more holes or enlarge existing holes.) Increasing exhaust flow will help to cool the engine.

Gentlemen:
Thank you for all the responses to my inquiry.  I actually have tongue and tube mufflers from Randy as well as a Big Art muffler purchased through Randy.  My inquiry was intended to permit me to match up some unused OS mufflers with engines.  Thanks to your responses I can now do that.
