OS 873 muffler less cone
« on: December 09, 2012, 12:25:18 PM »
How does removing the outer cone from an OS muffler #873 affect the engine?  What about power?  The 873 has an internal cone in the main body.  I would try this myself except I haven't made a needed head gasket for this engine.  I would appreciate anyone's experience.  SLEEPY

What OS engine does it come with? I have a variety of OS mufflers, but not that one. Based on published OS .20FP information, the cone helps control the maximum rpm, as well as reducing the dB's.  However,  if the matching OS has no talent as a stunt engine, it still may not be enough to be useful.  D>K

The 863 muffler is an old design and not matched well with the 40-46 engines.  It's too short and not enough volume.  The 30-30 muffler is better suited to stunt flying.
