Title: OS 46 VF bearings
Post by: Guilherme Souza on August 02, 2015, 06:07:53 PM
Dear Sirs

I think I need to change my bearings of my OS 46 VF
I started a hard training to Brazilian īNats

My engine has a strange sound , a lot of people here tell me that must be the bearings

My problens is I don't know the size of the bearings

Some one could send me the specification's of the bearing , Dimensions and details ?

I need to find this bearings in Brazil . If  I buy from USA it will not arrive in time to Brazilian Natīs and training

Thank you in advance

If you have any kind of bearing shop/distributer, they can usually match up exactly what you have if you just show them one. They'll measure it.

Click the link Carl gave you.

Click on one of the bearing sets.

Click on "Kit Components".

You'll see that one bearing is ID 0.3750in x OD 0.8750in x Width 0.2812in, and the other is ID 16mm x OD 30mm x Width 7mm.

Good luck.

Thank you

I will check

I would check if they would ship to Brazil. I believe the rear bearing, at least, is some oddball proprietary size unique to OS. Until Boca came along (and presumably had someone "adjust" a standard bearing), they were essentially unobtainable, and I checked A LOT of sources.

I use the least-expensive type they sell. They are *much better* than the stock parts. The bearings are just about the only part that ever wears out/fails on a VF ABC, at least in any amount of flying you are ever likely to do with it. It is possible to wear out the piston/liner but only at Walker-esque amounts of flying and only after many seasons.

Thank you

I will try to find here in Brazil , if not I can try Boca Bearings or Mr Randy
My problem is the time to Delivery because the brazilian Natīs is octuber and Iīm not sure this bearings arrive until there .
If not I need to take a risk .

Are The Econo power bearings from Boca better than originals ?
Thank you

I don't recall any delivery time details of any shipments I had made (from CST) to Brazil, or the time the trade (Tucano short-kit) took to arrive. However, I shipped an engine to Australia by airmail and it was there in less than a week. I think you've got plenty of time to get the bearings from Boca Bearing, if you specify any shipping option other than "slow boat"!   y1  Steve
