Went flying today at Tacoma Narrows Muni. Airport. Pete Ferguson was there with a newly repaired Profile CardinARF. In place of the Brodak .40 (now in his kit built Vector 40) was a .40LA. We ran it once and as it held a setting nicely, #2 was in the air, with a Thunder Tiger Cyclone 11x4.5. Worked sweet! At least give it a try...
Pete started out with a Randy Aero tongue muffler, but the model needed a tad of nose weight. Before he could bolt on the stock OS muffler, I pulled out a new Randy Aero tube muffler...sounded great, decently quiet, ran good, and it was just the right CG change needed....very noticeable on glide & landing. Pay attention to the glide!
Anyway, the Cyclone 11x4.5 is a real good prop for: Brodak .40, Magnum XLS .36, and OS .40LA. Maybe for a Thunder Tiger Pro .36 or GP .40/.42??? Anybody use it on other engines with good results? :! Steve

Yeah Steve, I use it on my Aero Tiger 36. I've seen others use this combination as well.

Also try a APC 11/5, it works very well on my Vector with a OS 40 LA.

I've had good stunt runs on LA 40s with APC 10-4.

Hi All, On my LA .40's my props of choice are the APC 10.5 X 4.5, and the Pro Zinger 11 X 4's. The LA .46's like the Pro Zinger 11 X 5's. On my Brodak .40's I prefer the MAS 11 X 4's. Props a re a constant mystery which need to be experimented with in all sorts of weather as well. Phil Spillman

A couple of weeks ago, we were back at Tacoma Narrows Airport. Dane Covey was flying his PathfinderARF with a .46LA, and complained about the speed...too fast a lap time. Before I could say anything, Pete F. had a whole bag of TT Cyclone 11-4.5's out of his big Chebby van and had Dane attach it to the .46. I wanted to see how it worked, so kept zipped for a change. It worked great! I don't recall the launch rpm, but somewhere around 10k+/- should be a good starting point.
These are really great props! The 12.5 x 5.5 is also a great prop for ST G.51 and Magnum XL .53. They'd be worth trying on ST .60's, 2Star .60's, Stalker .51's and .61's, etc. If you're a fan of APC's (I am!), you'll be impressed with the TT's when you check the balance and performance. :o Steve
