Title: OS .40FP cutting out in overheads))))
Post by: Shug Emery on September 30, 2014, 07:56:23 PM
Was out flying my Prowler today and it has a OS .40 FP on the nose. Been a good engine. Took it off to do some light maintenance on my plane....put it back on. Been trying a clunk tank. Pressure checked...all good. The engine was cutting out in overheads at the vert 8. Raised and lowered the tank. The same cut out. Went back to my uniflow metal tank. Pressure checked A-OK. Put it on....still cut out overhead. Raised and lowered it...same results.
Anybody got any intel on why this may be happening? Giving me an achy noggin.
Thanks very much.

Only a couple of things I can think of. If you are running a tongue muffler make sure the holes are not plugged with carbon. Run a good hot plug like a Thunderbolt RC long, or Glo Devil 300. Those can cover a multitude of problems. Also, run it a little on the rich side as it could be just going to lean at the top. These are just suggestions to try if you have not done so already.
