Title: OS 40 LAS or Magnum 36
Post by: Leester on August 26, 2007, 08:16:45 AM
I have a plane that calls for 40-46 engines with the LAS 40 recommended. Would the stock Magnum 36 be an option ? This is just for fun flying.

I've only run one Mag 36, so I don't know how variable they can be, but out of the box it is an excellent engine. Mine is a bit better than an LA 40 in terms of being easy to set up and running more consistently and being able to turn at bit bigger prop.  I run the Magnum on the stock muffler and fitted it with an LA 40 RC carb to make adjusting the venturi size easy.  If you can only get one engine, get the Magnum.

Hi Lee,

Personally, I found the Magnum 36 to have more usuable power than the LA 40.

If you don't wish to add, subtract, or order parts etc.for a Magnum.36, I'd suggest an OS.46LAS.
I think you would be happier with the OS.46LA, the Mag.36, the OS.40LA. in that order.
What plane are you planning to use the engine on?
