OS 20FP manual?
« on: April 24, 2012, 03:21:40 PM »
Are there any of these scanned in out there?  I seem to know how to run the engine -- I just like to have the manufacturer's take on things...

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Thank you Mark.  I looked on the OS website, and then Googled, but did not find: you possess superior Google-Fu than do I today.

Bill:  ;)

Interesting fuel mix they recommend: 25% castor and no nitro, or 20% castor, 10% nitro.  No mention of synthetics at all.

Also, that is the manual for the steel liner FPs.

The manual for the ABN FPs specifies 75% methanol, 20% castor oil and 5% nitro or 65% methanol, 20% oil and 15% nitro.

Again, no mention of synthetic oil.

The LA manual recommends the same fuels as the ABN FPs.

I now use the castor only fuel in old worn out engines that would loose too much compression if synthetic oil was used.  Sig Champion ( 1/2 and 1/2 oil) w/4 oz. of castor added per gallon for the old iron piston bushing crank engines like the Fox .35.

HI Tim,

The OS manual has no mention of the Brett Buck Tune Up in it.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it does! It says to take it out of the box, assemble it, and bolt it to the airplane. Nowhere in there does it mention a Dremel tool with a grinding point, nor does it discuss blocking the boost port, putting in a smaller venturi, adding head gaskets, running 11-5.5 props at 8500 rpm in a 4-stroke, throwing away the muffler, etc. It also recommends a 9-4 prop for break-in, and for "sport flying".  It's almost as if OS actually knew how to build a good engine BEFORE they consulted with "stunt experts".

How odd.  That an engine manufacturer should know their job.

They probably consulted with Brett before finalizing the design!   #^
