Someone posted a while back looking to remove the Blue from an OS LA motor.  Well I accidently found that "Valvoline Heavy Duty Carb and Throttle Body cleaner" in the spray can softens / removes  the blue collor.

I was using it to flush the little chips out of the venturi throat before I pulled the tissue plugging the hole, after drilling it for a ST needle. Sprayed it on the outside to wash some grime off, wiped with a rag and the blue started coming off. Nooks and corners I used a soft brass brush on.

As long as they keep making them we don't care what color they are. I beleive they are the one of the best engines out there. Hey billm how are you coming on the Rebel. Leo
