At what point did O.S. use the molded back plate with needle valve molded in?
I may be wrong but I doubt it.
I wouldn't take her to a dog fight even if she had a chance to win.

As far as my memory goes, the original issue of the .25, .40, and .46 all had the molded in needle body. I think just before they quite painting them blue, they went to the metal bracket, a much better set up in my opinion, that allows more positions to mount the needle to protect it.  Cladio Chacon has posted photos over on the main forum of a, LA.24 with box and all paper work and parts that was made in China, or at least the box was. It is a silver version with the molded in needle body and the box is dated 2013.

Note that in my experience the molded backplate works just fine.  I've heard over and over again not to overtighten it, and that jibes with what I know about maintaining a seal in that sort of part -- I've always just left my engines alone back there, and never had a problem.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.
