AXE Rossi 61 Rear Exhaust 5 Port Engine
« on: July 01, 2009, 05:10:20 PM »
Hi Randy
Has anyone played with this engine to run in our stunt mode?? Sure a nice looking engine, I wrote Rossi Manufacturing and they told me it would run at a low rpm with a lot of power???? I believe they stated that the tuned exhaust would have to be a longer length???? Seems like a lot of money, could buy a proven RoJett or PA engine. Rossi to me has away been speed but might be a different approach to playing with our toys, if this engine could be run for a good stunt mode????? Just food for thought, always trying to do something different???? Would appreciate any input, thank you Gary

Hi Randy,

Thank you for your input. I'm not quite sure the weigh is in grams. Isn't it around 0.04 times the grams equals ounces?? One of the engines is 430 grams, one around 510 grams and the other I believe is 610 grams. Not sure I have the exact grams but I wrote Rossi and should get a better answer tomorrow. I believe they're ABC construction. Probably a lot heavier than your engines or the RoJett. After using my Double Star 61 RE Lite engine, spoiled me, like the idea of not having oil covering the plane. With the DS I just have to wipe the bottom and I'm done, nice feature. Not sure but I believe your engine is lighter than the RoJett. Rossi also has the control line setups and told me he would install that with the deal. Just not sure what would be needed to run the proper way, for control line stunt???? One thing for sure Rossi isn't a cheap engine, price wise but you know the old saying (Some times you get what you pay for) Hopefully not the old saying (A fool and his money soon parts company)  Thank you, Gary

Hi Randy,
Rossi wrote me back and as it turns out the engine weighs 21.2 ounces and the tune kit weighs 6.7 ounces. I doesn't matter how well the engine works, its out of the ball game. Nice looking engine, I figured if it was any good, for the stunt group someone would have been using her but my time is free and it was fun checking out the engine. Thanks for your input, Gary

Hi Randy,

I didn't get a Rossi 61, I purchased a Rossi 40 engine.  Rossi claims it will run stunt in a low rpm, well I guess I'll see if its true. It must be a strong engine at 17000 rpm's it produces 1.9 hp. I think I'll try the engine in a score, should be okay with that kinda horse power? After I bench run her, might help me decide which plane she'll carry?? I couldn't resist for a hundred dollars I thought it be worth trying, just having fun, Gary (I believe the 40 weighs around 13.7 ounces)
