NVA Direction

Does it matter which way you mount a NVA? I'm using a clunk tank with a solid uniflow tube with an inverted engine this puts the pickup on the inside, is this ok?

 :!   I alway's try to mount mine where I can set the needle without having to fight the hot exhaust/muffler.
  They have been run behind the engine at times to accompolish this.
    My vote is no, it doesen't matter which sice the fuel comes in on.
