Randy what is the general guild line for adding nose weight to shaft of engine ? as some are talking about light props and spinners?  :!

Not Randy by any means, but I have been told countless times to avoid weight on the shaft.

We add it to the fuselage in the top block (under the engine if the plane is on it's back) or fill up the back plate.

Hi larry

Depends on the  engine  if it is  a  plain bearing one like a  FOX or  FP  I would add  weight  in teh backplate  not on the shaft.
If it is a  ball bearing  motor  I have  added  up to 1\2 ounce  of  weight  on the shaft  either  by a heavy  nut  or  heavy  prop washer....NEVER put it in the spinner as I wa s asked  a day or  so ago

But  you would always  be  better off  keeping  all weight you can off of the  shaft

Regards
Randy

I've used shaft weights, but they need to be well balanced and are still a bit hard on the bearings..
