FP 20 with 2030 muffler vs FP 25
« on: May 25, 2018, 03:51:20 PM »
I have been reading a lot of posts on the OS FP 20 with the 2030 muffler and was wondering if using this muffler on the FP 25 would provide the pipe like control it has exhibited on the FP 20? From what I've read the 2030 muffler acts as a 1/4 wave pipe that would hold the engine back if pushed in the wind.

Since the "pipe" works against RPM if one runs the 25 at a similar rpm wouldn't it work the same? Is there some type of baffle inside the 2030 muffler that can be adjusted to work with the 25? Seems if it works with one could work on other engines that will run at the same rpm.

Hello Dennis
Searching for the OS 2030 muffler I found it was listed for the 25 as well as the 20.  I imagine it would work very similar to the OS 882 muffler I used on a FP20 in the past.
I made the mistake of using the 882 muffler on my FP20 on a combat plane and it would not rev out .   ???
It did strike me at the time that it would have made a brilliant stunt motor that would hold its rpm with its 'governed' muffler set up .  :!

That style of muffler often has a removeable cone / baffle , at where the halves join . Seen one in backward . Can almost see with flashlight .
