I think I made a mistake. If possible, I need a drop in replacement for a Fox 46 ABC BB. I don't want to mess up the mounts. I got the new Fox 46 ABC BB for a gift. It sat around for a while then I decided to build and put it in my scratch built Pat Johnson P51 profile. On the bench, the engine ran pretty good. Very easy to start. But once installed all I can get is a dry 2 or wet 4. I replaced the factory nva with a ST nva. Different plugs, tanks, fuel line, filters, etc. This helped a bit, but still no fun to fly. Sure does burn fuel and not smooth running. On one slow flight (bird mating season in TN), a bird attacked the slow flying P51, it stated a dogfight and the bird lost. So, I had to name the P51 "Birdkiller". No damage to the plane. The bird I think flew off and crashed.
Anyway, any suggestions as to what engine would fit these mounts??

If it were the .40 a ST-46 would be a drop in. But it is a 46 so probably not. Just a thought: Contact Lew Woolard, his Silver Fox mods will make a good stunt engine out if it. I have only run his 40's but I hear he can rework the .46 as well... BTW, nice Mustang! 8)

I've tried a couple of times to contact Lew with no results and I was told that he was on medical leave, but this was several months ago. Anyone have current information?

Lew's computer is about as reliable as the weather if that is the way you tried to contact him.
Try his phone if you haven't already.
