   H^^    Fellow's I have an old Fox 29 and want to put a muffler on it what do y'all suggest and why??

This is my answer to mounting a muffler on old Fox engines. It will work on a variety of others.

Note of caution, Fox .19 / .29 / .35 Stunt engines have pretty lightweight cases.

 When using a strap on type muffler as shown described have a prop on the engine and keep turning it over frequently to check for binding as you tighten the screws securing the muffler strap.

Cranking down too hard can squeeze the case / liner enough to cause a slight bind, that can result in hot running, increased wear, inconsistant runs, etc.

Ty, can you post a picture of your setup with threaded rod for the muffler holddown.  Sounds like something I would like to try.............TDurrill    y1

Or ask Bigiron if he has any of those machined straps for foxes. They don't put pressure or stresses on the crankcase. Really cool!

Fox made a muffler a long time ago that used a cast piece that matched the back of the case precisely. If I can find mine, I'll post a pic of it.
