Title: Muffled Johnson Stunt Supreme?
Post by: Dennis Leonhardi on June 08, 2013, 02:32:21 AM
The old Johnson Stunt Supreme was quite an engine.  Question: Has anyone here run it with a muffler, and, if so, muffler used and results?  Thanks!

I had a tube style muffler on one for several years in a old time plane. Motor ran fine way back in 1985-89.

Thanks Ed!  What kind of setting did you run, a rich 2-cycle?

No.  That would be wrong.

It's not as bad as an electric motor on an old-time plane, but it's still wrong.

Dennis  Mine ran pretty much like a Fox .35 just a little more power. I had a Tatone peace pipe on it. Fancy name for a tube muffler. I removed the baffles. I still have the muffler and use it on a Fox .59 I gave the motor to Bill Whitson who is no longer with us. I wonder where the motor is.

Thanks Ed!

Howard, I agree.  But it comes down to flying site vs. no flying site ...
