Mounting Bolt Pattern of Fox .36 plain bearing engine
« on: April 02, 2018, 09:15:33 PM »
Anybody know if any other engine  has the same mounting bolt pattern as the Fox .36 plain bearing slant plug engine.

I need an engine that weighs about two more ounces.

I know the Fox .29 of the same era is virtually identical. Given the smaller bore, it should be heavier.
But, I’d wager this is not the answer you’re looking for.
I had a .29 on a Banshee back in my teens, as I recall it was fairly gutless.
I have seen the light, and it’s powered by a lipo.

Dave, I measured the hole pattern of my 29 engine and my 36 crankcase at 1.625 by 0.625 inch (or 1 & 5/8 by 5/8 inches).  The Fox 29X and 36X needle bearing engines I have measure the same.  The Fox Combat Special Mk II (?) of mid-1970s vintage I have also measures the same. I'm not sure what current engines would fit.  Someone here sells Enya's, I think, so you might see if they measure up.  Do you need more power or more weight, or both?

More weight. I opted for the two ounce Higley heavy hub.
