OS15LA
« on: August 21, 2007, 01:04:54 PM »
Have recently rescued an OS15LA from an RC Flyer (Strewth!!) ............ This is the Blue one with the Needle Valve at the rear on the Backplate.  I intend to fit a suitable Venturi and use the rear needle valve and I was wondering if anyone has any input regarding this setup for Control line use ........ Pro's and Con's.........................

FP needle valve and venturi are available from Tower. Great running engines. On the fast side. Let it rip.

Thanks for response Dennis ............... You would therefore suggest a standard spraybar through the venturi and discard the remote needlevalve .................. Sounds like a plan................. ;)

After having "some" trouble with the original remote NV, I installed the correct OS NVA in the venturi and just cut the remote NV off the back plate.

I also enlarged the hole in the muffler baffle plate to about 2x what it was.  Running a MasterAirscrew 8x4 at about 10,000 on Powermaster 10/22. Gives a reliable wet two stroke until the last 2 or 3 laps on my grandson's Ringmaster Jr.

I agree with the other guys.  The remote NVA has to go!  A standard "FP 15" NVA and Venturi (restrictor) from Tower is the way to go.  Save the headaches before they have a chance to start.

Agree with all! It's also quite a bargain, especially used.

The LA .15 is a fine little sport engine. I bought mine as an RC version, made a quick venturi and was in business.

Mine had a rather bulky baffled muffler. I removed the baffle, shortened and lightened it and it works perfectly.

I run a 7-6 Master Airscrew and Brodak 10/23 fuel. Single vent tank, no uniflow, no muffler pressure.

Set is lean on the ground and let it scream through the flight.

Todd put a pair of 15 LA's on his Trixter A-B Twin...   used the 15 FP backplates with 15 FP nva's and venturi's.  He removed the baffle from the stock mufflers...   APC 8x4 props and a nice two stroke setting on Sig 10% Champion fuel.  They run like a pair of little watches!
