OS MAX 50, good for stunt use??
« on: November 28, 2010, 01:17:51 AM »
Hi all, interested in knowing about the OS Max 50 (ringed baffled piston, ball bearings shaft, circa 1965) and how it works for stunt use, and the setup to make them work.

It seems to be the big prother of the beloved Max 35-s......

Kind regards from Spain. H^^

Hi Manuel,
I have a OS 50 FSR Ringed and it runs very nice but I haven't installed it in any of my planes. The one I have doesn't seem to have as much power as my OS 40 FSR but has a nice 4/2/4 break. If ya play with it let me know how it works out for ya.

Best Regards
Gary

The engine I have is same as yours also rebuilt or rework. But is not much for power and has very little 4-2-4 break , hope yours works better.

There was a guy here many years back that used that motor in a Shark 45, it pulled it very easy and had a nice 4/2 break. It was a stock OS old style 50..not the FSR 50

Hi Maneul,

Randy Smith has a lot more knowledge of these than I do, but it seems that all the "S" series OS Max engines were along similar lines regarding timing and all.  Even the little OS .10S will 4-2! LL~  But power, as we describe it today, is down to the modern stuff.  Still, they seem to power an appropriate size model just fine.
