On the way home from the field today I stopped in at a local hobby shop. The guy behind the car counter knows I like fixing up old engines, so he set aside a box a couple of weeks ago to see if I wanted it. The box had a crappy hacked up Cox Babe Bee, a crashed Enya .29 Model 5103 with a dented bypass port (don稚 know what it looks like on the inside), a broken fin, and chipped enhaust stack. And two K&B Torpedo green heads, a .35 and a .15 that don稚 look too bad. Along with the Torpedos was a new .15 NVA on the card (.60 cents) and a gasket set for the .35 (.15 cents). The engines are all castor seized, so it値l take some heat and penetrant to get them free.
Not sure what I値l do with them. The 5103 I値l probably just clean up and shelve, as I知 not into racing. The Bee is good for a couple of parts. But I知 not sure what to do with the Torpedos. How does the .35 compare to a .25 LA? What would the .15 be good for? What props are good for each? A 10x6 for the .35? An 8x4 for the .15? Suggestions for glow plugs? I have 10% nitro, 25% castor fuel. A good choice?
Also, what can I learn from the serial numbers on the Torpedos? The .35 has a serial number of 25743 and the .15 has 32409.
Thanks,
Mark
