I have a MCCOY REDHEAD 35 i am thinking  of putting on a Streling F51 Mustang what size tank and what prop should i start with thanks. BRAD

Brad; since the McCoy Red Heads like to be loaded, I would start at least with a 10-6, and an APC works well on mine. You can probably get by with a three ounce tank, but 3 and 1/2 ounces would be better. I made my tank a little deeper and shorter for my Mustang as the space available is a little cramped.

I'm not going to argue with Jim, but my experience with McCoys says they'd rather be unloaded with a smaller prop. I usually used 9-6 to 10-5 props. I got a lot of years of engine service doing it this way.

I happen to use 10-5 props on my .35 Red Heads.  On the .40 Red Head, a Rev Up 10-6 EW is a great prop if you can find them.  I have some George Aldrich 9 1/2" props I use on my .29 Red Heads.  Lately I have been cutting down the Rev Up Govt. surplus 12 X 5 cut down to 10".  Works pretty good! ;D

          I currently fly the Sterling Yak-9 using a Master Airscrew 10-6 and it seems completely happy with that on a 3 1/2 oz. tank. I enjoy flying the Mccoy. I will say the wood props crush onto the drive washer a lot better than the composite props. The 9x6 would certainly make it go faster. Ken
