Hi Guys, I have been tinkering and started to Clean up an old Lightning Bolt .40 that I have had for a while but never used or ran the wrist pin is moving up an down in the piston the hole is slightly oval and it makes a light clicking noise when you turn it over. Mecoa shows the series 21 parts oos, has anyone tried any other liners and pistons I was thinkking of maybe a B40 piston and liner, a buddy of mine has a machine shop and could make it all fit, just wondering what you guys think I wish I had a B40 liner for comparison, if anyone has a scrap liner let me know. T.J.

hi T.J.,
Get a Series 21 piston and ring (new wrist pin and rod would be nice but not absolutely necessary). Then just slip it in to what you have.
The Series 21 piston, alone, is a direct swap for the Red Head .40 pistons, no work needed.
The sleeve (or "jug") will NOT drop straight into the Red Head .40 case the sleeve diameter is too large so the case would have to be machined. (which is strange since the .29 and .35 will ??? )
Swapping pistons makes the engine last MUCH longer, all things considered.

Bill, the .35 size series 21 jug would not drop into my redhead .35 without machine work. n~

Hmmmmmmmm...... Just put one in one of mine Saturday.............. ????? The only swap problem I have had is with the .40 sleeve. The .19 uses a different bolt pattern so it's a no go, and the wrist pin on the .19 is also different. no easy way of converting the .19.
But, the piston is a direct swap for the .29, .35, and .40, and there is no real need to swap jugs anyway. Porting is same on both, and the Red Head has the "windows" to keep the ring in place, anyway.
