Experience has been very, very good. I think all you really need is a .245-255 venturi, and a 10/11-4.5 Bolly, tweak from there. Stock everything else is fine including the muffler. Do not take apart for "improvement" almsot certainly don't use more head shims until you have some good reason to.

It's on the margins of too much for the 520-square-inch or thereabouts Brodak kit version, perfect for the next one up.

I've got one I'm going to put in my ARF Nobler. Randy Smith Venturi, PA NVA. It's the easiest starting engine I have usually 1 flip.

We use a Magnum 36XLIIA (square headed) in an Ares around 38 oz.
We use a 10 1/2 Bolly 3 blade picteched to 4.  Launch in a wet 2 and it stays there.  5%-10% nitro Sig 1/2 and 1/2 castor/synthetic.  The Venturi and NVA are form Randy Smith.  Great low cost set up.
