I have an over sized ringmaster ( super lite) it has an LA 40 on it /it will do the pattern Dead Rich . what I would like to do is be able to run it at a higher cleaner setting ,but still be in the 5 sec range .dead lean it is good for a 3.2 sec lap

where do I start
By telling us what prop you're using, what fuel you're using, how big is big (wing span and area, and the plane's o/a length or the distance from the high point of the wing to the LE of the horizontal stab), and how light is super light (how much does it weigh).

Lower pitch prop, longer lines, smaller venturi, but I thought you knew all of this...

OK I lied, it is an la 46 ,.257 venture, 11/6 zinger,10/22 50/50 sig fuel,65 ft lines
plane has 620 sq in .span 52 in ,root 12.5 tip 6 .25. 2 in thick at root, fuse is 29 in long 10.5 elevator to wing trailing edge nose is 6.5 weight is 32 oz's

why would you use a 6 pitch prop? use a TT 11 x 4.5 , Pro Z 12 x 4, BYO 12 x 4 APC 12 x 3.75
That will be much more in the range

Hello As a contrast my Super Ringmaster 'Brick on a string' with only 390 sq" has an Enya 45 model 6001 , tongue muff , with 11x6 (need that pitch to keep the mph up) and is 42 oz with 60 ft lines. Built in 1990, flown lots and has actually done well at some classic stunt events especially when it is windy! ;D

6" pitch props went out of stunt 30 years ago, for the most part, and if it's running too rich, less pitch is the solution.

Hello Don't throw out all those high pitch props they work well on ignition engines or other ancients that turn slowly . ;)
PS my sleeved down Enya 45 'Baldie' probably has less power then a modern 15 buts sounds beautiful as it chugs away !

That's way freaking light for the size -- which is probably good in a Ringmaster-ish plane.
The 46LA is a Schuerle-ported engine, which is why Brett and Randy are telling you to go down in pitch. It wants to spin fast; with that prop it'll always be threatening to get on the step and run away from you. I'd start with the APC 12.25 x 3.75 that Randy suggests -- that'll tend to load the engine and keep it at the low-power end of its range (for contrast, I have a 64-ounce stunter that flies really nicely on an APC 11.5 x 4 that's cut down to 11.25 x 4 -- for that engine, bigger planes want smaller props).
You didn't say what spraybar size you have (it matters, because a bigger-than-stock spraybar uses up more venturi area). Try it out, and if it wants to run away from you then consider going to a smaller venturi, or piling nylon mesh on the thing to effectively make the venturi smaller.
