Title: How do you tell an OS46VF from an OS46VX?
Post by: Andrew Tinsley on May 06, 2012, 01:37:53 PM
Hello All,
I was answering an advert for an OS46 V. That is all that the engine has cast on it. Now I know that OS make a 46VX and a 46VF, never heard of a 46V? How can you tell the difference between the two engines? The engine is being sold on behalf of a very seriously ill modeler and obviously I don't want to bother him.

Regards,

Andrew.

The VF has a bolt on front housing while the VX is one piece. The only photos I could find in the OS Timeline of the VX though were a marine and DF units. The VX though has VX cast into the crankcase. The rear induction 40VR-P seems to use the same crankcase as the VF so just has V cast in.

HI
Brian has it correct, the VF 40 and 46 has construtiion like the FSR 40 45 with the bolt on front housing.
