breaking to hard la46

I have a os la 46 and the break is to strong,it comes on @8 and stays on until level again? suggestions on how to 4/cycle more. Thank you. Ron.     here is the setup.
11.5x4 apc -T.bolt plug. metal backplate.
10/22 powermaster 1/2-1/2.
.282 venturi and ST.nva and 1-head gasket.
scott dinger muffler with no pressure.
B.line air filter with green screen.
6.oz uniflo tank.

Ron, some of the things that we have done is reduce the "squish band" to about 1/2 half the size that it is.
 Original is about 3/16" so 3/32" is about half, or add a couple extra head shims (gaskets), we also are using a venturi of .275 down to about .262.
 One of the way's that we get the venturi size reduced is to J B weld (Metal filled epoxy) the venturi closed, then drill it out, or get with Jim Lee (vendors section) for venturi's.
 Add about 2 oz extra castor oil to fuel, and we also are turning APC props that measure 12x5..

Hello Ron,
  LA46s seem to run much better in a constant 2 stroke. Although I have seen 4-2-4 runs, they are much better at a constant 2. Try it, you may find you like it.

we have had much better success with them running a fat two cycle as well, about 9800 rpm with the APC 12.25 x 3.75
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!

Hi Ron,

I replied in the other thread about this, but I agree..... a "wet 2 and a low pitch prop.  More power, less fuel, excellent, consistent runs.  The stock timing and set up just doesn't really "like" a 4-2 style run.

Please help me out of my misery?Could posters in this thread please specify their choice of glow plug? I am now wondering what the effect of plug choice is on the performance.

For instance, I have my LA 46 engine on a normal front NVA, Aluminum backplate, a reduced squish band, 5% Nitro, 20% Castor,
 AND an Enya 3 plug.
 And I use a Scott Dinger muffler. The engine will turn a 12x4 wood(Zinger) or the special APC 12.25X 5.75.

    There should be no "breaking" in the first place. Reduce the pitch and increase the RPM until you get it running in a rich to medium 2-stroke. IT cam be modified to run in a 4 and do a 4-2 break but that gives up A LOT of the available performance.

That's what I thought. Kind of like trying to run an FP 40 on an 11x6, it'd run away for sure. Put an 11x4 on it and it was rock steady.
