Title: Help...suggestions please (Norvel content)
Post by: John Castle on February 10, 2009, 10:52:58 AM
Got a great deal on this Norvel AME .061. It has never been run but the propnut is broken and stuck in the crankshaft. It looks like I get one more chance to get it out before drastic measures are needed. I have applied liquid wrench last night and I intend to remove the carb and o ring and heat it in the oven at 350 degrees and give it one more try with some vice-grips. Any other suggestions before I get started?

Thanks, John

John

I would recommend that you remove the crank from the case first. This should make it easier to work on with minimum risk to the case. They are not that hard to disassemble. When going back together remember the relief on the bottom of the piston skirt faces the back cover.

Regards
Robert

Removing the crank is a good Idea. I'm kind of thinking that if this does not work I will just replace the crank rather than trying to drill it out. I assume that the .049 and .061 cranks are the same (??) and they are only $10.00.
