Title: Has anyone used this Tiger 35?
Post by: Robert Zambelli on February 08, 2015, 05:18:38 PM
Came across this recently - twin ring, ball bearing, baffle piston, weighs 9 ounces.
G 21 in a large "V" on the bypass.
It's virtually new - just a bit dirty.

Anyone know its purpose?

I believe that is a 1st model G/21 35. You can tell by the bolt on front end and the straight up venturi. I used to haveone and it  was a
good runner. I had new rings put on it and it sold for big bucks on eBay. I was stunned to say the least as I had only paid $10 for it.

Hi, Bill - thanks for that information.
I dug it out of a box of old Tigers and didn't know a thing about it.
Might be a bit heavy for a stunt engine - in fact, I'm pretty sure I have a speed 29 that's in the same case.
I thought it might have been intended for stunt as there was no speed class for a 35.
Make sense?

Actually you might be surprised at just how well it runs. Put it in something that might be a little tail heavy. Frank Bowman has rings for this engine if you ever need to change them. I reccomend it as they are much better rings.

Combat or "C" Gas free flight. Saw one run, back in the early '60's. Made a lot of noise, sounded powerful, but it had fuel tank problems or maybe just fuel problems.  D>K Steve

Bill and Steve - thanks for the replies.

I have the prototype Brodak P-40 ARC that I have used as a test plane in the past.

I will mount the Tiger 35 on that and see how it performs.

Theyre Wot they used for STUNT in Italy at the time .

Dunno if a muffler will help . Cant see it . Nitro does , if its gutless - which is unlikely .
Early ST's had very hard liners . Carefull you dont seize it . Vibration ? might pay to
' Anti Foam ' ( armourall etc ) the Fuel . If its shaking it could go lean .

Have an Identical mint one , I may put in a Mk 1 T- Bird .Havnt run it .
