Fuji engine
« on: March 31, 2023, 10:21:47 AM »
I have had this old Fuji engine in my collection for years but would like to know a bit about it if possible.   I've been told it is a 29.    Can anyone tell me if it was designed for sport ,  speed or whatever .   It is unusual having a cylinder case more like a Cox engine and the forward swept venturi ??   Thanks for any information I can get.

Hi, Dalton.
I'd be curious to see what information you find.
I have a bunch of Fujis, one similar to yours and some modern ones.

Thanks for responding Bob,  I was hoping you would see this and know something about them..    It is a great looking engine but I haven't found any info on it as yet.

I just checked through AdriansModelAeroEngines and it appears your engine is a Model 25-5 Fuji 29 FRV from mid 1952.
https://www.adriansmodelaeroengines.com/catalog/main.php?cat_id=192
The identifying thing is that your engine has 8 fins above the exhaust port instead of the previous 9 fins. Scroll down to about half way down the page.

Good Morning

Thank you very much - that is some very interesting information.    I was not aware of that website.   I think you may be right or it could be a 29-4 model as the seriel number is 6622 which is close to the pictured engine.     It also brings in a few other engines I have,   the Hope 29 and Super Hope 29.

Hello, again!
I guess I'm not the only one with some weird Japanese engines.
I have Fujis, Hope and Super Hope, Boxer, K&O, Cannon, Mamiya and maybe more.

There's a treasure trove of information on Adrian's web site. Easy way to find info on almost any brand of engine starts at the top of every link where you'll see things like Engine Articles, Gallery etc. Links to any engine is shown alphabetically. Adrian does a monthly update to his web site where he discusses new engines he's become aware of or updates to previous engines from information sent to him by engine fanatics all around the world.
