This past week I started using the Morgan Omega 10/22 control line fuel.

The LA46 is set up with 1 extra head shim and a Thunder Tiger 11x4.5 prop. Also using the stock muffler since I could use the nose weight.

Well, my LA46 in the Kestrel was not happy with it. Basically power seems down with this fuel. I had tested at both sea level (home field) and also at the Lee, MA contest this weekend. Bill Hummel gave me some Powermaster GMA 10/22 and the engine returned to performing well.

Any comments? The Omega says it is mixed by volume. Did I get a bad jug of fuel? Throw in more castor? Seems ok in my Magnum 32 combat engines.

  Chris, I am using the Omega C/L fuel in my 46 engines, and I add about 2 oz's of castor to the fuel, and they run fine with it.
  You might try adding some castor to a small amount of the fuel, and see what happens, that way you don't waste the castor...

I have two LA .40's in louisiana that run very well on the Morgan fuel. I mix my own fuel for the rest of the pack here in CT. 3 gallons of methanol from a speed shop, one gallon of Fox castor oil and one gallon of Powermaster 10/22 or 15/23 what ever is at  Hog Heaven at the time. Works for me. I open the head with a ball end mill also. APC 12.25 x 3.75. APC 11x4 on the LA .40's Cold start launch at 9200. Should have tried 9500 at Lee yesterday.

So  far, I have never had any Morgan fuel that is as strong as the fuel I mix, or SIG fuel, I mix mine by volume, and the Morgan is always down on power in comparision

Thanks for great info guys. I will try some extra castor tomorrow to see if that helps, otherwise I guess I'll run it in the speed limit combat planes.

Randy, have you tried the new Morgan control line blend, (10-11-11) it is mixed by volume. 
I use it in PA65 and Stalker 51, seems to work good for me.
I have not made any back to back comparisons with SIG or any other fuel. 
Others in the our club use it in LA-46, working good for them also.

I took a quart of the Omega 10/22 control line fuel and added 2 oz of castor.

Well, the LA46 responded better and I was able to set the RPM's to a good range for the prop.

Flight performance started out good but then at the end of the pattern the engine ran away, going into a 2 stroke and staying there.

So I have decided that I should use the Powermaster GMA 10/22 in the LA46 instead of the Omega. That seems to work better for me.

As they say, your mileage may vary. Use what works for you.
