Title: Fuel filter options

It seems that Master Airscrew has discontinued their small fuel filters. :(  I know that they were not perfect but with a bit of heat shrink tubing they were light, small and cheap. I can't say that I am happy with any of the alternatives offered as they tend to be heavy, big and expensive.
Do any of you know of any alternatives that may be available?

I will be watching this thread with interest. I e-mailed Master Airscrew about 6 weeks ago and got a response that read, "i know what you are talking about, i believe we still have some in the warehouse and i will be back to you soon".  Nothing yet. I guess i will be using the Hayes filters at about $3.oo apiece. I may even spring for some of the small crap traps.

I use Crap Traps on the big planes and Dubro screw together ones on profiles and such.

Richard Oliver was selling some inline filters (screw together, "cleanable") that were barely larger than the silicone fuel line and maybe 5/8th" long.  I got a few but wish I could find out a new source for them.  ???

The old H & R (Richie Blatt) screw together filters are now being carried by Brodak. Part # BH-935 @ $4.49.

TIP: Always make sure a screw together filter is tight before using it!

          For those that use the H&R filters, I'm sure you've had the problems of cleaning them at the field. I've tried to blow the filter out and completely blown the screen out of the filter and into the grass. Don't panic, the Cox screen from the red fuel cans work terrifically. I've had several of them around and I believe the mesh may even be smaller than what was actually provided in the stock filter. I had several of these laying around with no screens. Its nice to know that they can be put to use again. Ken

True! BUT...When Richie had the company he also sold the little wire "clippies", and additonal screens! Try Brodak for extra screens!

FWIW, whenever I reverse flush any filter, (no I never try to blow one clean) I do it against a piece of white paper. that way you can see what you've cleared away. Especially if it's the filter screen!
