Super Tigre GS-45 ABC
« on: November 10, 2014, 04:06:10 AM »
Is the Super Tigre GS-45 ABC (RC version converted to Control line Stunt) a worthy successor to the older Super Tigre 46. Anyone tried out this engine for stunt? It is capable of 1.5 bhp although it is heavy at13.2 ounces.

Hi Casey,

Welcome to the forum!  As of yet, I have not heard of any success with this engine, and it has been around for quite a while.  I am guessing you could use it for Sport Stunt using a flat pitch prop and a high rpm run.

I can't say how it would work for stunt because I've only ever run mine on a test stand but it's a surprising engine. Just for laughs I ran it once on a back to back experiment against an Enya 60-IIIB. Using a 12x5 prop the Enya made 9,300 revs and the ST made 10,500 while with a 13x6 prop the Enya made 8,600 and the ST made 9,100. Admittedly the ST carb had 33% more venturi area but even so I was quite surprised by its grunt.

My buddy Wayne and I have recently been trimming a Pathfinder with a ST GS45. It's pretty impressive, especially with the new Randy Smith NVA in it. Very nice stunt engine! This one is going to be good enough to compete with.
