Fox/Enya fuel
« on: July 17, 2009, 03:58:11 PM »
I know that this subject has been run into the ground (no pun intended) but I have a Fox 35 with a hemi head and stuffer plate, and a couple of Enya 35s that I will be running soon. Will these engines run happily on the same blend? Now for the fun part - all I can get here is Omega fuel. On the other hand, I have access to methanol and nitromethane from my drag racing buddies, and I can find castor oil pretty easily. Would I be better off blending my own fuel? I figure asking now would be easier than trial and error which has never worked for me in the past.

I have an Enya 35 that will not run without a battery on Fox type fuel.  It does just fine on less castor.  People have suggested that maybe the plug is being flooded with the castor.  However, it is kind of scary because the Enya is an iron piston Fox-type engine as far as I know.  I got the engine cheap but I still don't want to ruin it.  I'll be watching for other, more informed comments on your fuel.

Frank - I run ALL my glow engines (4-stroke, 2-stroke, antique) on Brodak 10-23, 50/50. Never had a problem.
You can also use Powermaster 10-22.

My Enya 35's don't like Power Master 5% nitro 29% straight castor. They quit running and the exhaust port shows sooty deposits. What I have been using for the past several years on my Enya 35's and Fox 35's is Power Master 5% nitro 22%castor/synthetic blend. I add 7.8 oz. castor to the gallon of fuel. You can try a quart and see for yourself. I set my Enya 35's to run at 88-89k rpm with a 10x6 Zinger or APC prop. The stock muffler is heavy but it works very well on the Enya motor.
