Title: Fox 59 setup question
Post by: don Burke on April 07, 2007, 09:20:37 PM
Hi All,
I just got an nicely used FOX 59 front intake intending to use it in an OTS (long term in the future project).  It is however an R/C model with the venturi cut off.
I will make a venturi for it, but, does anybody have an idea what the original venturi diameter happened to be.  And is that diameter good for stunt.  The NVA that came with it is FOX but has a turned down diameter of .145 where it would be in the venturi.  Is this normal for the 59?

Thanks in advance.

On my RC versions I used a .292 opening and a ST needle valve

Thanks, sounds about the size of a current 46, which should equate.

Yep, about right, except you don't yet know what loud is!  Plan on a 13-6 prop, or thereabouts. Should do the pattern on 5 - 5½ ounces of fuel.

I definitely plan on using some kind of muffler.  I wish everyone would use something, it's one of my pet peeves about speed and racing too much noise, but I also realize it's part of the mistique!
