Fox .59 Advice

I have a new Fox .59.  It runs pretty good at this point.  Only three short runs on the bench.

It has a restrictor in the venturi.  Looking for info on why I would want to use a restrictor or not.

I have two of them and they have better suction and a more consistent run with a constrictor. The one I have in my Viking has a .250 venture with a Super Tigre spray bar needle combo. It fly's great with a 13-4 wide blade APC prop. They also work well with 12-6 to 14-6 wood props. When I built my 850 square inch 68" span Taurus, I flew it with the Fox 59 without a restrictor and it always gained speed when ever the nose was pointed up like in a wingover. The restrictor stopped that from happening. They are pretty powerful motors that just do not seem to wear out. Fun but noisy. Maybe that is why they are so much fun. Pretty much a Fox Stunt 35 on steroids.

Interesting.  I will have to try out the larger props.
The old model engine tests were running 11-8 prop.

A New topflite 11x7 , as per instructions ( 1958 )



About 90 mph 4 stoke on 60 ft lines .Ended Up bunging a piece of neoprene tube  into the intake .( Sim. to yrs . )
Maybe Read the Scarinzi Blue Angle artical , for his set up .

Profile Peacemaker theres 150 % pommy one. made for it, spars exactly 48 inch . 54 span . 1450 metric wotsits , I think .

Dave,
For PAMPA stunt you will likely want somewhere around a 0.275" - 0.285" diameter venturi bore to start with and a 12x6 to 13x5-6 prop. When Larry S did the Blue Angel with the Fox 59 he had a plug in the venturi that cut off about half the stock bore. You could look that up, someone on this forum should have the mag he published it in.

Well I just bought another 59 on eBay.  Guy is a reputable seller.  It looked brand new and unmounted.
No venturi restriction and has a ST NVA.  I asked him about the NVA.  He just said it is better than stock.
I will find out.  The other 59 has stock NVA.
I will let you know how it works.
He listed it early this morning for fixed price of $98.00.  I snagged it.

The most important thing to do with a Fox 59 is to replace the fiber gasket under the head with one made of aluminum.  The alternative is a 100% (or more) probability of overheat/runaway runs which has been the bane of Fox 59 flyers since before Charlie Reeves and his "Big Job"

I sold a Fox 59 RC to Big Art at the Cloudbusters auction back in Royal Oak.  Actually he intercepted me in the parking lot, which is against the rules.  Well, maybe not, since it hadn't entered the building.  It's probably in his collection.
