Fox 35 40th 50th 60th
« on: May 10, 2024, 03:49:25 PM »
I think when the 40th anniversary came out they were generally thought of as being the best year for the Fox 35 Stunt. What do you think? I owned a couple and they did seem to be a little better than prior years.

Anyway, I have some nice parts to build one but I need a crankcase. I was wondering if the 50th and 60th anniversary engines were as good because I wanted a case with the big exhaust flange.

I built an engine with a 50th case many years ago but it would really bind up. I eventually ended up boring out the cylinder and putting a different sleeve in. Runs good but I have Fox 35 sleeve that's chromed and fitted from Glen Dye so I have to use a stock case.

Just wanting to know others experience with 50th and 60th engines. Did they make a 70th?

Thanks,

Hello
I have found the 40th and 50th Anniversary editions run the same but the stronger exhaust mounts and hex or Allen head screw's of the latter versions are a big plus. I wonder if Fox will skip the 70th Anniversary model and just wait till 2028 for the 80th.
According to Mecoa's web site the 60th version is being produced to order.
Here the history page with some nice pictures of each Fox 35 version:

I would suggest that no matter what else might be wrong with it, you need the 50th or later just because to use it in stunt you really need to run a muffler.

There was a rumor the black case 50th engines were just hacked out display units not ment to run.

I think it said something like that in the instructions. I would be curious if it is any more "hacked out" than a regular engine.
