McCoy .35 RH wrist pin end pads available?
« on: February 10, 2015, 07:12:15 PM »
Hi all -

My latest E**y treasure is a nice '57 McCoy .35 RH (no venturi bosses).

It needs a pair of brass wrist pin end pads - is there a source for them?
Anyone have a spare pair in your parts bin?

Thanks.

Terry

Hi Terry,

Contact Jim Lee at Lee's Machine Shop in the vendors corner.  I have never seen these offered separate.

Someone on ebay offers a gasket set that includes the pin.

That set has the pin for the crankshaft throw but not for the wrist pin.
Jim Lee also has that pin but nothing for the wrist pin ends.

I know there are those who like/rebuild/restore McCoys, and it seems this would be a common wear prob for them.
Since the brass wears away, the pin ends must eventually damage the cylinder - how is this normally addressed?

Hi Terrry; Some of the later Red Heads have teflon wristpin pads unlike the older ones that used what looks like a brass eyelet. I will do some checking and see if I can help you out.

Hi Terry,

Back in the day, the engine was wore out by the time the pads were. Had to get a new engine.

Hey Terry. I don't think the brass pads will come out without drilling them out. I tried to pull them out and they won't budge. I can send you a complete wristpin if you will send me your old one so that I can drill them out and make new pads. If that will work for you send me a pm with your addresss and I will get it in the mail to you tomorrow.
