EVO 60 : User's Views ?
« on: July 16, 2012, 12:10:37 AM »
Hello fellas from S.W.France.

I'm still delighted with my Evo 60.

It's been around for a while now so can anyone else share their experience with this fine engine please  ?

Props' , fuel , launch rpm , tongue or standard muffler etc.

Much obliged for any contributions ,

Robin.

Hi Robin, no updates since I reported my setup in your EVO 60 thread that was posted in February of this year. Still a great engine IMHO. 8)

The Evo 60 is a great engine. Easy to start, smooth ,well mannered. For the $ it is excellent. Do pay attention to the
fuel choices. They run excellent when you use the correct fuel. Mine is on a friends way overweight Pathfinder.
No problems so far. Nice easy not to harsh 2-4 break also.

Thanks!

I'm going with 8800 with an RSM 12x5.5. I think that would be a good combo to start with...and a prop that is actually in production and costs less than $10.00 - how often does that happen?  ;D

Would GMA 10/22 work in the Evo?

I have used it however it did not run well with that blend, sort of "blubbery", not a clean run. Possible too much castor. I found it ran well on Omega 10% (that's their castor/syn blend, the pink stuff) or standard Powermaster 10% R/C fuel. I add one ounce of Randy's "Aero Oil" to each regardless. It is in a plane that is not flown much however I was pleased with the runs I was getting with those fuels and plan to use it in another project. 8)

It's a hard sell trying to get C/l flyers to use less then 20/22% oil and half of it being castor. The Omega pink is actually the 2nd choice. They recommend the cool power green at 16% oil

The Rustler /40 and the ABC converted ST/46 both run better on Omega.

If you feel that you have to have more castor, you could try Powermaster 10/17 and see if you like it. I use it a lot for R/C use.
