I was gifted what I think to be is an early Fox 35 combat motor, it has a straight glow plug and the square venture with a removable insert if it is to be used on preasure. My question is what size prop should I use on a VooDoo using a suction tank. I don't want it flying too fast.

Rich, I do not mean to hijack your thread but I have a question for you. You mentioned a suction tank, can you explain this? I have a old VooDoo powered by a modified Super Tiger 35 that is suppose to fly on a baby pacifier tank for pressure but I am having trouble finding information on this. So I am interested in a suction tank. Thanks, Tim

               A square venturi Fox .35 is not going to want to run slow. If the restrictor isn't  in the stack, it's not going to want to run at all on a tank. Rich if slow is in your interest, you would be far better off using a Fox .35 stunt on the Voo Doo due to better fuel draw, easier starting and less issues dealing with a tank. Installing a tank in a voo doo requires some plumbing changes, for obvious reasons, the overfill pipe needs to be removed and relocated. Veco used to make pressure tanks in this configuration in standard vent and pressure style. I'm currently flying a Half Fast with a square venturi Fox .35 and it's quite fast. It would probably 20 miles an hour slower with the .35 stunt.

The mounting patterns are not the same.  I know from experience.  If you use the Combat Fox run a larger diameter lower pitch prop.  Be ready on launch as it may want to torque in on you.  Should fly right out of the launchers hands with out throwing it or running.  Putting a metal tank in a VooDoo is easy once you learn to relocate the tubes.  Don't go through the leading edge.  Folded wing on my first VooDoo with McCoy Redhead .35 on suction.  Plus keep stabilizer movement to 15 degrees each way.

No, great plane! They really work well. Great tight turns, tracks well, and comes out of a hand launch easily. You couldn't really ask for more out of a vintage combat plane. I love flying them
