Fox 35 aftermarket NVA
« on: December 20, 2020, 02:17:51 PM »
Other than using the stock Fox 35 NVA...is there an aftermarket NVA that fits without drilling the case and/or doesn't have a more restrictive spraybar?

Thanks
Bill

Pretty sure Randy Smith sells something that will work.

For the Fox, the problem isn;t that the holes are too small and have to be drilled out. An ST spraybar goes right through the stock holes. The "dogbone" shape is the problem. I would suggest the 20-40FP spraybar, or the Enya copy from shtterman on eBay, and making some spacers out of short lengths of brass tube to increase the diameter where it goes through the case (but doesn't intrude much on the venturi). You will have to split the tubing to fit it over, spread it out, squeeze it back, and then glue it in place with JB-Weld.

It's the same problem as using stock OS parts on a "drilled out" 25LA or similar case, except it is not so critical about where the ends of the spacers end up.

IF you can find them  the OS  15 LA  Needle assemblies  can work very well, I setup  dozens  with them,  NOT the  20 NVA  it it larger diameter
Use the assembly with 2 thin washers on each side, I would seal them with silicone, right  size  better  needle

Thanks for the responses. I found an old OS or Enya NVA in my stash and will try it. The spraybar dia was filed down but it will need shims to center the hole.

I like the ST NVA for this application.

I like the ST NVA for this application.

But it is *much* larger than the stock Fox needle, which means you either have much less power, or, you have to drill out the venturi throat.

Or, as BillP mentioned, you can file it down to match the original diameter.
You only need to do it where it crosses through the venturi, and only in width making it oval shaped.

I spoke with Bob (shtterman on ebay), he has a shop make NVAs to his specs that work with the Fox without mods. They fit using one washer on each side and have a spring on the needle.  NVA price is about the same as a Fox needle from MECOA. Might be a clone of the small OS NVA Randy posted about. I'm ordering a couple and will see how they work.
