Super Tigre G.34 report from Mike Fitzgerald...promising!
« on: December 23, 2014, 02:19:03 PM »
Got the report below (in bold) from Mike Fitzgerald in Nampa, Idaho. Keep in mind that he's at fairly high altitude...and it's most likely fairly cold. Mike got this engine 2nd hand from some local R/C bod and found that it bolts into the holes where a Fox .35 Stunt once resided. Maybe somebody has given up on a G.34 and needs some encouragement? I would only suggest that while a Zinger might well give a "perfect lap time", this is not saying that it will give good line tension overhead...and I very much doubt if it will. My opinion of Zinger propellers of any type is that they are only a "kit prop", a blank slate, a work in progress...and not worth your time and money, in general.

Flew the G34 on my S-1 Ringmaster....5%x22% fuel, stock ST muffler, 10x6 Zinger wood prop .... Uniflow tank ...no pressure, no extra head shims.  Launched at 8,800 with steady 4C. Perfect lap time on 60' lines ...very nice 4x2x4 break ...PERFECT run! Tried a .250" and a .272" venturi, both with .156" spraybars through the bore. Both worked well, but the .250" was easier to set. Not sure why the G34 has a bad rap....Surprised we don't see more of them.

Merry Christmas!   y1 Steve

I used a box stock G34 on a ARF Cardinal with a 11-4 MAS prop and it was perfect.

Any notes on what your launch rpm was? Muffler used? Venturi size? Mike did some online snooping to find out details on the stock ST G.34 CL venturi. He copied & pasted the info into an email....didn't make any sense to either of us.  n~ Steve

Steve, I don't remember my launch RPM, the venturi is a 275 (hope I measured right) The muffler was from an OS 20FP I'll have to find a picture and get the number.

Here's a picture of it, I can't see the muffler number but it matched right up to the engine. Guess I used a Power Point 11-4 not MAS. I think the muffler is an OS 2030.
