Have not seen any recent postings about Evo36 C/L- I have one NIB but have not had time to break it in- wondering if it is worth the effort since my airplanes are already fitted with either Fos 35 ,B40 , OS46LA. How do I to convert EVO 36 to conventional front NV setup? Which of the venturies is best for suction uniflow ?

I've been using one in a TQR racer, no muffler. I had to use the smallest venturi to get enough suction on uniflow without muffler pressure, even the next larger one gave intermittent run problems. I'm still using the stock RNVA and really don't see any reason to change. If I did change I would go to an OS R/C NVA. It's a direct replacement for the EVO venturi spigot. I have heard there may be air leakage problems with that installation. Most likely use of a gasket or in the worst case cutting flat on the side of the venturi might be necessary.

Silicone RTV is the modeler's best friend.

Hi Lyle, just a quick reply on the Evo 36. I have had one for well over a year now and have found this to be a fantastic engine. I had it in a profile smoothie for most of the time but now have it in a Nobler with great success. Just a few tweeks that I had to make because of not holding a needle setting & inconsistant engine runs. I took the medium venturi drilled it out to a tight fit on a supertiger nva. Added a filter or a piece of "pantyhose" to the venturi and WALA!! This simple modification fixed the run and needle problems and has been a awesome engine for me. You may wish to play with the tank venting "muffler pressure" or not. I have been using pressure with mine and it works well. I'm planning on buying another one and putting it on a ARF Vector as soon as my stimulus package kicks in. Hope this Helps!!! Scott Bolton

Well I finally got back to my EVO .36. Put it on my ARF Nobler minus the cowl so could get to everything. Put the big stock muffler on andput the tongue muffler back in the box. Got to the field and unloaded. Filled fuel tank an started it by hand. The last time I tried to run it was on the bench and would not run with the tongue muffler. Also it was hard to start. Today it started on the third flip by hand. Backed needle out a ways to keep it running. Went ahead and hooked up the lines and flew. Tried several props and the Zinger 11-5 worked the best. Finally hooked up the muffler pressure and had to take the needle in a ways. Put up three flights, but no pattern with the wind gusting lie it was. Also had wrong handle. Will use correct handle next time. Seems like the engine has promise. Oh, the fuel is Excaliber 10% with 22%oil 1/2an1/2.

I have had problems with mine. I installed tank to line up with the intake tube on the engine and almost quit on me when I went from inside to outside on the horizontal 8 and it did the same on the virtical 8 also so I kept lowering the tank until it was on the engine bearers and it doesn't do it as bad but it still did it in both of these manouvers so I had new venturies made with same size hole as the small one and have used a Super Tigre needle valve assembly in it, but have not been able to check it out yet. I am hoping this will cure the problem. The engine has great power and starts easy and 2-4;s just great but it needs to be set up right.

Run the engine with Cool Power all synthetic (green). Makes a big difference. No castor please. Try it. Hot plug. Enya #3 or Evo.
