Can Enya SS50 Heli version be converted to aero engine just by changing a head?
I wonder as I can see at parts listing, it has a crankcase with different part code S50H03.

If youve got one , you could just chew the head down , lathe or file .
Maybe need a Fox Exn Shaft prop nut , if the cranks short ?? maybe the only differance is the nose ?
Putting a degree wheel on it to find the crank & port timings a smart move .

Hi Vitalis,
I looked at this a while back some when building up an SS50 from parts - used SS50 Heli Engines were real cheap on Ebay at the time. In response to my email query to the factory on the Case Mr Ken Enya advised:
"different points about S5003 and S50H03
between hole of muffler fixing (it is same as OS model)
engine mount dimension(between hole to hole it is same as OS model)"
Essentially the S50 Heli Engine was produced to be a bolt in replacement for the OS Heli Engine. If you are looking to use this on a model that may also use an Enya SS40/SS45/45CX/50CX/61CX then it won't be a match.
If such compatibility is not an issue then just changing the head & adding a Venturi/NVA would be an easy task.
I ended buying an SS50 Case, Head, Crank & Piston/Cylinder and used a donor SS40 Engine for the rest. This was cheaper than buying a New SS50, especially when no longer in production or available in stores!
Cheers,
Richard
