Title: Enya ss30S Tuning
Post by: Juan Valentin on February 10, 2014, 05:38:25 PM

I would like to know if the Enya SS30S is used as it comes in the box and if they are also reworked like is done on the OS engines for a better run?

You need to read some of Brett Buck's posts on the subject of tuning the current OS engines for a better run.

I have an LA-46.  The sum total of the tuning I did was three layers of fine nylon mesh over the venturi to damp down the power available to match the 52 oz airplane it's on.

Hi Tim,
I can't for the life of me see what tuning tips evidenced only on an LA 46 has to do with an Enya SS 30?

I have two Enya SS 30's and would also like to know .

Are you saying that the power of the Enya 'must' be damped down?

Thanks.

Chris:

Juan's question was whether the Enya must be reworked "like is done on the OS engines".  My point is that many here recommend that no reworking at all be done on an LA 46, the FP 20, or the LA 25*.

I don't consider restricting the venturi a bit to be reworking -- just tuning.

* There's even two schools of thought on the LA 40, one being that it Absolutely Positively Must Be Reworked, and another, smaller one, that points out that the original LA 40S came with a humongous venturi and it works fine with the right prop and a smaller venturi opening.  I can't say anything about that -- I own a reworked LA 40 that I love, and that pretty much worked right out of the box for me, but I don't have an unreworked one to compare it to.

You can't use an SS30 as it comes in the box - you need to add a glow plug and a prop.  But that's all!  Stock venturi, stock muffler, 5/11/11 fuel, and it runs like a dream in a wet 2.

Couldn't agree more! Superb engine, extremely well made and far better quality than the OS LA series. Just fire it up and run in a rich 2stroke and it is dead nuts reliable and gives an excellent stunt run.

Andrew.

Super Fine Engine for C/L! Works quite well stock out of the box.

You can change venturis if you want more power. It comes stock with a 6.5mm venturi and Enya offers  7.0mm and 7.5mm optional ones that you can buy a part.

Enya also offers a high precision NVA, quiter mufflers, long prop nut and other accessories.
