Hi all,
 I have just purchased a deceased estate new Enya SS 30 that has been slightly modified for racing (no muffler ears and the venturi has been drilled out) and was wondering if anyone knows if the Enya SS 25 venturi fits into the 30 SS front housing as I do have it available to purchase?

There appears to be two venturi sizes available 7.53mm and 6.95mm and I am running under the assumption that the smaller size would be best as I can always easily enlarge it.

And the muffler, due to the engine barrel now being a wonderfully milled and smooth radius I suppose that I could match that radius on the standard mufflers mounting face and simply strap it in place or I could similarly use a muffler extension to make a tongue setup.

Or if anyone has an Enya SS 30 venturi for sale for stunt use?

Hi Chris,

The SS25, 30 and 35 share the same case, so the venturis are interchangeable.  Enya sell a variety of Delrin venturis for them (6.5/7.0/7.5 mm) - quite cheap and the service is excellent.  Have a look here: https://cs206.xbit.jp/~w041133/store13/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3_19     

7mm would be a good place to start.  These are excellent and underrated engines IMHO - light, nice handling and not short of power.  (One even powered last year's champion Cowra Plank Racer, and what higher recommendation could there be than that? ) 

As far as the butchery of your case goes, it might be simpler to just get a new one and fit all the other parts to it.  You'd only be up for about $20.  Parts list here: http://www.enya-engine.com/P_list/P_listSS30_E.html

                  I appreciate you getting back to me mate and since my original post I have hunted down the common part 6.95mm venturi insert - so we agree on that size as a good starting point.

Case replacement was one option I had not even considered but if I go down that route it will add to the cost of getting a muffler anyway, add the venturi to that and well ............. should have just gone out and bought a whole new engine shouldn't I?
(But bear in mind that this engine was put together by Lance Smith - for those who do not know him he was a VERY good team race engine builder - so I am loathe to pull it apart in case there is some magic contained in the assembly.)

As mufflers are going I am currently eyeing off an old Enya 19 muffler (I need a 35 mm hole spacing for all this to work) that could be scalloped out to suit the radius on the barrel - only going to cost me an hours work and probably my finger prints left behind on the emery paper as well.

                I (stupidly) thought that this engine would NOT be breathed on because the Enya SS 30 was a rare choice for racing and thus may have been left stock.

So I post contacted the seller, Andrew Nugent, and he honestly doesn't know if there is anything beyond a gas flowed crank in it and openly states that if that is all that has been done the it won't degrade the run qualities no matter what use it is finally put too.

I have it slated down for stunt use but you have got me thinking that just perhaps it is best 'released back into the wild'  and a wing may not be so strange idea after all mate.

Ah, the muffler situation has been sorted, an old OS Max 762 muffler (they were last used in OS FP 35's I think) has been sourced quite cheaply.
It has a good solid mounting stub that can be radiused quite easily and a small strap attached around the barrel to hold it in place.

I also read all about the mods for this muffler from previous replies on this site concerning opening up the tail pipe - again easily done.

Chris, I'm just starting on a 'Miss BJ' for an SS30 - it's a fairly simple and attractive profile stunter. I can send you a PDF if you want to go down that route.

If you ABSOLUTELY must have a muffler on the beastie, make it a ventolin can one. As light as possible, so the engine doesn't know you're strangling it to death.

Remember it will really want to breathe.
