Title: Enya 61 side exhast conversion to rear exhaust
Post by: Ivan Bolton on January 25, 2013, 03:38:19 PM
Can anyone  tell me if the the Enya 61CXLRS PRO uses the same piston and liner set as the Enya 61 CXRS Pro?

I cannot find parts listings for the motors and  I want to convert  my 61CXRS PRO side exhaust into a rear exhaust  61CXLRS PRO  by ordering  and fitting a rear exhaust case.  These  motors and spare parts are being manufactured again according to the En ya website http://www.enya-engine.com/ListCL_E.html

Thanks

Part #'s for the CXLRS are as follows;
Crankcase - 61CXLR03A
Liner - 61CXR04A
Piston - 61CXLR04B
Wrist pin - 61CX06
CL head button (low compression) - 61CXR0182
RC head button (high compression) - 61CXR0181

The piston may be different because of positioning of the ring locating pin and the wrist pin because an RE engine needs one end blanked off.

Brian.  You are correct about the piston being different.  I have heard from Ken Enya.  This is what he said:

If you would like to convert to 61CXLRS from 61CXRS,
you have to change

crank case, piston,

------------------------------------------------------
1 x crank case (without bearing)  (61CXLR03A) = JPY 4,700
or
1 x crank case (with bearing)  (61CXLR03) = JPY 6,450
and
1 x piston  (61CXLR04B) = JPY 2,400

I have now set about ordering the parts.

Thanks for the reply and detailed information  Brian.

No worries Ivan but check that your SE has a sealed wristpin or you'll lose crankcase compression out the exhaust.

Plus the costs with the header and muffler.

Just wondering if the crankcase is made like the MVVS ones with 4 ports cast in them and then the liners rotates in 90º increments to line up for use with three of them.

This would leave a vestige of an unused transfer port under the exhaust port if true - and it would appear that way from pictures.

No It is not made like the MVVS, Enya parts are unique to each version

Ah, so the cast shape under the exhaust that 'looks' like it should be hollow inside for a transfer port is simply left solid for the RE version.

Thanks.

The top does not come off the case as the MVVS does, it is a 1 piece  case

Do you currently have headers and mufflers for the 61RE, Randy?

Yes I think I have both Enya header and mufflers, and My header  and pipes

This is Randy's header and muffler as fitted in my SV-11. The clamp is used to support the rear end and stop the muffler from sliding off the header. A piece of 1mm ply covers the tank compartment and shields the tank from exhaust heat. I don't use nitro so I made a new head button to raise compression from 8.8:1 to 12.4 which gave a lot more power. Actually the power rose by 26% which kind of surprised me :).
