Tank question?
« on: September 15, 2007, 08:35:58 PM »
I have a Brodak 6oz uni-flow all tubes forward tank and i lost the pack it came in. Can someone tell me which tube is the fill and which is the overflow?
I would take it to the field and fool around but the tank tubes are buried behind the engine and under the pipe.

Steve,

If you have a Brodak Catalog you can see the info there, page 79.

Youre describing the 6oz Wide Wedge Uniflow ATF # BH-563.
According to the Catalog picture the Overflow tube is the most inboard tube.

For any uniflow, that is mounted already, hold the plane pointed nose up.  Start filling thye tank through the pickup tube.  Put a stopper over one of the other tubes.  If you plugged the Vent, fuel will almost immediately start comming out the uniflow vent, since it is right next to the pickup at the (now bottom) of the tank.  If you get nearly a full load of fuel into the tank before any fuel comes out, then you plugged the uniflow and the fuel runs out the vent (now at the top end of the tank.
