Enya 35V's - Any use?
« on: September 23, 2006, 08:41:27 AM »
Hi Folks,

I have been given by one of our business customers two Enya 35V's. They both are pretty new (well, certainly not used much!) - start on bench easily (without nitro), and seem generally in fine condition.

The questions are:

1. As they are both r/c versions can they be converted to c/l at reasonable cost?
2. Are they any good as c/l even if (1) is true?

I do not have any project immediately at hand for them but thought they might be worth hanging onto "just in case".

Any info gratefully received.

btw - UK based but bits from USA not a problem.

Cheers

Harry

Harry: Not sure of your costs in the UK but you should be able to convert at a modest price. I'd keep them and try them in a plane, of course I don't throw anything away. Never know they may be outstanding runners.

The Enya 35V should be just fine for C/L use.  If broken in correctly and kept clean, I don't believe you can ever wear one out!  They are pretty strong 35 size engines.

I would suggest a "wet 2" run, as their timing is just a tiny bit high for a good 4-2 run.  An APC 10 1/2-4 1/2 prop should work pretty good as a starting point.

Venturi and NVA might still be available from Enya or one of their distributors.  I remember someone lately geting some new ones for their engine.

You can try Enya for for a venturi, if they are no help contact Scott Riese (member this forum)  He made a venturi for an Enya 60 that I have.  I have a line of Enyas 15 thru 60, all are great engines.

Hi Tom,

I had an Enya 60 in a Super Chief years ago.  Lord, it was a big ol' heavy engine, but it ran like a fine Swiss watch!

Scott Riese is a super guy to deal with.  y1

Steve Webb is the importer for Enya in the UK and seem to have endless supplies of spares - are they square or round intake?

Many thanks for the informative replies - looks like I'll be keeping them then!

(Tony; Will contact them tomorrow re nva. The current throttle bodies are sort of squarish barrel shaped affairs.... If you email me your address I will post you an aerosol  can of solvent cleaner we use at work. Should be ideal to flush out small bearings of debris - it's residue free. I assume you can do this via this site? I also assume you are in the Uk (Flag a bit of a clue!!))

Cheers

Good Luck Harry!

Keep us posted on what you build and how it flys with that Enya.
