That is likely to perform the same function as a diffuser, which is good. For stunt I would rather see it with much less trumpet shape, but it might not make much difference if there is enough turbulence generated by the vanes.

Whether it makes a difference or not, I'm just happy to see a mainstream manufacturer doing new things with CL engines. Full credit to them.

My guess is that it's originally designed for RC car market, and if it has any useful function at all, it is to help organise the airflow into the rc carb. Such a device would hardly be needed in a FI engine with a prop stirring the air IMHO.
Still as Steve says it's good to see something new in CL circles (yes pun intended)

I think we have more than adequate evidence that just having a prop flopping around in front of it is not sufficient to overcome the other flow effects, but I am certainly not going to try to convince anyone.
Diffusers and other devices to make the flow in the venturi uniform and turbulent are critical to steady stunt runs.

Enya has developed more new CL Stunt engines than anyone I can think of, even CL diesels in multiple sizes. They deserve a lot of credit. Too bad their engines are not more widely seen in CL. I have their new-design 40 and 61s and they are excellent. This new venturi must have been developed by somebody who knows what he or she is doing, so it will be interesting to see how it performs.

Probably their favorite translation program at work.
My rather rust fluid dynamics seem to want to say that by making a thin boundary layer against the outside of the intake, and turbulent flow everywhere inside the boundary layer then intake flow will be maximized for the cross section.
Pretty cool stuff.

I'll take a guess that "exfoliation" means less spit back out of the venturi because of the swirling effect giving a longer flow path. Bell mouthed (trumpet shaped) intakes are more efficient than a straight tube which is one reason why they're used on things like Weber carbs.

Rifling (a spiral grrove cut into the venturi) might have a similar effect. Maybe Randy Smith or someone who knows about guns and engines might have tried it. It might improve the velocity of the airstream, so it may be possible to use a larger venturi (more volume) at the same rate of speed.
They are putting rifling on some saxophone necks and it make a big diiference.

'Exfoliation' in my wife's case seems to involve some sort of dermatological boundary layer separation... So my best guess here is that Enya are trying to avoid exfoliating (!!) the BL inside the venturi.

Other than that, beats me :).

My own take on all of this is that the extra swirl 'may' help prevent the fuel/air mist from being (exfoliated) stripped from the (Sloat) jet under violent G force maneuvers.
And possibly desensitize the jet's rotational position.
You can't get a better spit back mechanism than a through spray-bar so I don't see that this is the intention of it.
But they claim an efficiency gain - as in more power for longer for the same amount of fuel used?
I reckon that the log jam of the through spray-bar would negate a lot of what is intended at the jet.

I would expect the through Spraybar to spoil whatever directive and turbulent effect the vanes might have...It's possible they might have some difusser type effect but highly questionable.
It's obviously a molded part and maybe it just looks sexy!!! y1 y1 LL~ LL~

I went into the Japanese version of the site, then put the Japanese description through an online translator and got this
"CL spiral Venturi, Coming Soon
Rotate the air in bladed air funnel!
Charging efficiency UP suppress the release of the throat by the eddy!
Rotate the intake air in the inner blade of six"
So my reading of it is that the vanes are meant to rotate the air in the venturi to suppress the release of air from the throat by creating a stronger eddy.
sounds like it could work, and as others have said - it's great to see some thought given to CL engines.
