Title: engine comparison ?
Post by: jim gilmore on April 23, 2017, 03:41:44 PM

I am curious if anyone could give a comparison of some of the commonly available engine how they compare in power to each other, or maybe compare to say a fox 35 ?

I am talking about engines like la .25
or the asp .25.

When they become available again consider the Brodak .40 . Half an ounce heavier than a La .25 and lighter than an ASP .25 . A very good replacement for the Fox .35 . I really like mine .

I was hoping to get an idea of how these engines compare to each other... I know what a fox .335 can do and would think a 40 is quite a bit more ??

LA25 -- good steady runner, nice "stunt run"

ASP25 -- unknown, probably "wants" to spin much faster than an LA25, heavier.  I'd try it with a 9x3 (yes, 3) prop and expect it to fly a lot more plane than the LA25 -- but I'd also anticipate it being not a good stunt engine, but one needs to try it to be sure.

There is a lot here to read about -

Bit most engine testers today don't seem to do these types of exhaustive tests.
